10 Steps to Filing a Claim

ONE

PROPERTY INSPECTION

A trained home insurance claim restoration specialist will inspect your property carefully. Each insurance carrier has specific standards. We will educate you on the process thoroughly. We will let you know if damage exists that warrants a home insurance claim. If a claim is warranted, we will support you through the process.

TWO

FILING THE CLAIM

The first call to file the home owner’s insurance claim is the beginning. We can be there during this call. We will explain the type of storm damage found, as well as the amount of damage we found and where we found it. With your consent, you can also get your Impact Specialist’s name and contact number attached to your claim. This will increase the efficiency of the process of your home owner’s insurance claim.

THREE

ESTIMATE, SCOPE OF WORK, & AGREEMENT

Your insurance company will provide with you with an estimate of the work to be completed. We will discuss your estimate together. Impact Roofing will file for any extra supplemental coverage if necessary. The main benefit of working with an Insurance Restoration Specialist is consulting you through the process. There is no extra fee for this, while some companies may charge 10% of the project as an addition to helping you through the claim. Impact Roofing only wants to earn your business by helping you through the home insurance claim restoration process from beginning to end.

FOUR

THE ADJUSTER MEETING

Impact will support you throughout the entire claim process. This includes the meetings with your insurance company. Your insurer will come to your home and confirm the wind or hail damage. Our inspection is similar to theirs for this reason. We usually know what will happen at this meeting. But, sometimes insurance companies may miss damage we found initially. Impact Roofing will be sure to point out everything we found during the previous inspection. We are your eyes and ears on the roof. We represent you with integrity, knowledge and experience.

FIVE

FUNDING THE PROJECT

The insurance company will only first pay our what’s called the “Actual Cash Value” of your project. It’s usually a very small portion of the project’s full amount, especially when completing a full roof replacement. We will order the materials to your home. This first check is your “deposit” check. This will get your project started. We will file the necessary paperwork to receive the rest of the funds when the project is completed.

SIX

PRE-CONSTRUCTION SITE PREPARATION

Site preparation starts with simply communicating with you about delivery of materials. We will explain things during the agreement stage, but remind you again before delivery what needs to be done on your part. The materials, and eventually the dumpster, are delivered to your driveway. This location makes the restoration process as safe and clean as possible for everyone.

SEVEN

BEGINNING THE PROJECT(S)

Install-crews provide protection for needed areas. Tarps and plywood placed around needed areas will help. When performing multiple trade projects (roof, siding, gutters and windows), roofing is first. We work from the top down. Safety is our concern; thousands of nails as well as many other sharp and potentially dangerous materials, will be removed during this process.

EIGHT

INSTALLATION

Impact Roofing will always tear off the old roof before installing the new one, which is a very crucial step that allows us to do a deck inspection to ensure that the nailing surface is solid. If decking is in need of replacement, we will do this immediately.

Underlayment, including felt and Ice & Water Shield go first, followed by the new shingles. At the end of each day, we will do a cleanup and after the last stage of construction, a final cleanup will be performed with a thorough sweep of all premises with special magnets.

NINE

FINAL INSPECTION/CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

After the completion of RESTORATION PROJECT, your Impact specialist will do a thorough inspection with you to make sure you’re completely satisfied with every aspect of our work.

It is important that you be present at the time of the inspection to make sure nothing has been overlooked and the restoration project meets your satisfaction and our highest quality standards. After this, you will sign the “CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION.” This acts as a confirmation that Impact has fulfilled our promise to you.

TEN

FINAL PAYMENTS/ WARRANTY

After you receive your final payment from the insurance company, we will collect the final balance due on the home owner’s insurance project. This final balance will always consist of your depreciation and deductible payments, and it may sometimes include one or more supplemental money needed to finish the job.

The Impact Specialist will turn the checks in to our office and your warranties will be registered and sent to you in the mail. Our goal is to provide complete customer satisfaction. Welcome to the Impact family.
